Md Omar Faruk has an educational background that spans both technical and social sciences, holding a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Extension Education from Bangladesh Agricultural University. He recently obtained his second Master's degree (Master of Economics) from Hiroshima University, Japan, supported by the JDS scholarship.

Faruk has been employed in the Department of Agricultural Extension within the Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh since 2012. His job responsibilities are mostly technology dissemination, communication for innovation and livelihood improvement of rural people through networking, facilitation and collaboration among multiple actors. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to promoting sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices among rural farmers.

Given his role in facilitating communication among farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders regarding agricultural technology dissemination, he became interested in studying science communication and has started his PhD journey at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS), ANU. This field emphasizes effectively conveying scientific knowledge and its implications to diverse audiences.
