Dr Claudia Munera Roldan
Contacts
Claudia is a conservation biologist with experience in biodiversity and conservation science, climate change adaptation, sustainable development and environmental policy. She has worked with a variety of institutions in Colombia and Central America from the local to institutional levels, an experience that allowed her to obtain a broad perspective to understand global trends, and the background behind private and public sector initiatives, science and policy.
As a Fellow with the Conservation Futures Project, Claudia will look to support adaptive governance for protected areas management in Colombia. The research will help to identify adaptation pathways to understand the decision making processes and knowledge management at both individual and organizational level, including processes that facilitate strategic thinking and collective learning that help to understand and navigate global changes.
Research interests
As researcher and practitioner Claudia is interested in the social and livelihood impacts of environmental conservation initiatives, and how to work in solutions that help to achieve a real sustainable development. There are many challenges ahead to support local adaptation to the global changes we are facing, including initiatives that consider scientific information but also that understand and include local communities knowledge, their needs and the environmental and cultural realities.
