ANU co-investment opportunity for hydrogen projects

Background

The ACT Government's Energy Innovation Fund (EIF) provides competitive grants to support the development of innovative energy technologies and solutions essential for the Territory's net-zero energy transition. ICEDS administers the Crookwell investment fund to support hydrogen economy research at ANU and will be contributing up to $100,000 in ANU cash co-investment to a project selected for funding by the EIF.

Deadlines

The ACT EIF application deadline is end of September 2025. The ANU co-investment application deadline is Friday 15 August 2025.

 

Eligibility

ANU co-investment is only open to ICEDS members. ANU researchers can click here to join the Institute.

Applications must also meet the EIF eligibility criteria - see page 9 of the EIF Application Guidelines.

 

Selection Criteria

The selected project will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Research excellence
  • Transdisciplinary collaboration in the hydrogen economy
  • Return on investment to ANU
  • Likelihood of success in securing EIF

 

Applications

Carefully review the EIF Application Guidelines before preparing your application. Applicants should particularly consider the ACT Government’s Study Report: Green Gas Alternatives for the ACT's Commercial and Industrial Sector, outlining relevant regional priorities. Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their project concept and seek endorsement from the EIF Secretatiat before seeking support from ICEDS.

Please submit one (1) word document containing the following to icedsadmin@anu.edu.au by 11:59PM Friday 15 August 2025.

  • Project title and brief summary (200 words max)
  • Response to EIF eligibility criteria (200 words max)
  • Responses to each EIF merit criteria - see page 10 of the EIF Application Guidelines (200 words max for each of the four criteria; innovation, technical and commercial viability, application quality and organisation capacity, and return on investment)
