Announced on 1 July 2024 by NSW Minister for Climate Change and Energy Penny Sharpe, the Board will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of the NSW Government Renewable Energy Zones and Priority Transmission Infrastructure Projects. In a media release announcing the Board, Minister Sharpe said “I look forward to seeing the strategic thinking, collaboration and expertise of this Board come to life, to help deliver on the state’s renewable energy goals.”

Bec joins the Board alongside other high-level industry, governance and community engagement representatives, offering her expertise as a social scientist with research interests in the social and political dimensions of contentious issues associate with energy transition.

“The modernisation of the NSW electricity system promises profound transformation particularly for regional communities. I am looking forward to playing a constructive role in helping NSW to navigate this time of change,” said Bec on her appointment.
