Dan Virah-Sawmy

PhD Candidate
Battery Storage & Grid Integration Program, College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics

Coming from the Island of Mauritius, Dan is a PhD Candidate at the Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program. He is also part of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program, a partnership to help the Great Barrier Reef resist, adapt and recover from the impacts of climate change.

As part of his PhD, Dan is looking at Renewable Energy solutions for the Great Barrier Reef. His research interests include hybrid energy systems, electrification of remote locations and hydrogen as a sustainable energy carrier. 

Prior to joining the ANU, Dan spent four years at Deakin University in Geelong, where he earned a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours).
