Giorgia Marchiori

Gio is a health scientist by training and a systems thinker by passion. She holds a master's degree in Biomedicine from Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) and a second master's in Sustainable Management from Uppsala University (Sweden). Gio previously worked in infection diseases research and with NGOs on global health neglected issues and the transformation of our food system through EU policy and local governments' actions. She has experience working with a variety of stakeholders and colleagues with diverse backgrounds.
In July 2023, she joined Professor Sharon Friel's Planetary Health Equity Hothouse as one of the ARC Laureate PhD candidates. Her PhD project focuses on investigating health philanthropy’s research agenda and its implications for the achievement of planetary health equity.
