Robin received her PhD from the Australian National University.  She subsequently worked at the ETH in Zürich, Switzerland and Leiden University, The Netherlands before returning to the ANU.  In this time, she obtained a wide experience in low-temperature high-resolution optical spectroscopy applied, in particular, to porphyrins and (photosynthetic) proteins, and in artificial photosynthesis.
