Senior Research Officer (Flooding)

Floods are front of mind for many Australians, following the devastating recent unprecedented flooding in the Northern Rivers and other parts of Australia.

The ANU Institute for Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions (ICEDS) has built a transdisciplinary research team to implement a new initiative - Partnering with local communities in regional Australia to increase resilience to flood risk.  This team is partnering with regional communities to evaluate and develop options for minimizing the impacts of floods on communities.

ICEDS is seeking a Senior Research Officer (Flooding) for this ANU initiative - to research and quantify the ecological and economic impacts of Nature Based Solutions to flooding. The position will contribute to ecological and economic research, and will also be responsible for coordinating and contributing to writing the first ever Australian guidelines for integrating a nature-based solutions approach to mitigation of flooding by rivers.

To excel in this role, you will have tertiary qualifications and strong research and writing skills and experience. Qualifications or experience in flooding, ecology and economics will be highly regarded.
