The ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science will host its  6th annual winter school on June 19-23, 2017 at the Climate Change Research Centre, UNSW.

The 2017 winter school theme is The Science of Climate Change.

The winter school will focus on the scientific fundamentals of climate change. Topics covered include: radiative forcing, climate feedbacks, climate sensitivity, transient vs equilibrium responses, detection and attribution of climate change, the physical basis of key impacts, ocean heat uptake, the anthropogenically perturbed carbon cycle, aridity and global temperature, CO₂ direct effects on the biosphere, geoengineering, and climate and cities. We will also learn about the IPCC process, and hear from users of climate data and projections.

This is a high-level education program for honours and graduate students interested in climate science. It will be of relevance to those working in atmospheric sciences, oceanography and land processes.

The winter school will consist of a series of lectures and lab sessions delivered by Centre of Excellence researchers from our five universities and partner organisations.

Some funding is available to support attendance. Priority will be given to honours and graduate students working on climate science problems.
