Mr Gene McGlynn

Exec. Director, Climate Change & Sustainability, ACT Govt

Gene McGlynn started as Executive Director, Climate Change and Sustainability, in the ACT Government in July 2018.  In this role, he looks after a range of policies and programs to ensure the ACT meets its emission reduction goals while improving the environment and helping all citizens make the transition to a net zero emissions future. 

Prior to this, Gene worked as a consultant and for more than 20 years worked for the Australian government in climate change and energy policy.  He has worked in renewable energy, energy efficiency, transport, building policy and energy markets.  He has also worked internationally at the OECD in Paris and the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels.
