Dr Shan (Dora) He

Shan (Dora) He is a Research Fellow in the Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program at the Australian National University (ANU). She focuses on evaluating the economic and technical benefits of battery technologies at both community and household levels through advanced algorithmic approaches.

She earned her PhD in Computer Science from Monash University, which provided her with a robust foundation in algorithmic, analytical, and technical skills. During her PhD, she discovered her passion for contributing to the global energy transition through academic research, using state-of-the-art methods to provide valuable insights.

At ANU, she has applied these skills to multiple projects with the ACT government and Energy Consumer Australia, including:

  • Studying the feasibility of installing community batteries in residential suburbs.
  • Comparing the economic and technical benefits of household and community batteries.
  • Assessing whether current network tariffs incentivize batteries to lower electricity costs and improve the utilization of local solar generation.
  • Investigating community batteries’ ability to increase solar hosting capacity for local networks.
