Climate Change Institute appoints new Knowledge Exchange Specialist

7 May 2019

We're delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Ruth O'Connor as the new Knowledge Exchange Specialist with the ANU Climate Change Institute (CCI).
Ruth's role with the CCI is to facilitate the strengthening of links between climate change researchers and end users of the research.
Ruth’s interests include exploring mechanisms to bring together researcher and professional expertise to address complex societal issues, and evaluation of those processes.  Ruth recently completed a PhD at the National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) at ANU which explored the values of knowledge co-production processes from the perspective of environmental managers.  She has also worked for over ten years as a knowledge broker in multidisciplinary environmental research groups.
"I'm really excited to be working with the Climate Change Institute", said Ruth.   "I’m looking forward to applying my research findings to help develop solutions to the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change."
Dr Bec Colvin, who has been in the role of CCI Knowledge Exchange Specialist for the last two and a half years, will be joining the Crawford School of Public Policy as a Lecturer in the Resources, Environment and Development program. Bec will continue her research on the social dimension of climate and environmental issues, with a particular interest in conflict and identity.
The CCI is looking forward to continuing to work with Bec in this new capacity at the ANU.
