Australia poised to dump Kyoto carryover credits

The Australian government appears to be backing away from a plan to use carryover credits to meet its Paris climate obligations, as international pressure grows for more ambitious emissions reductions over the coming decade.

The government had planned to use an over-performance on its Kyoto targets to effectively reduce the amount of carbon it had to cut by 20-30.
