We put a lot of pressure on young people in Australia: teens can drink, drive, go to prison, make decisions about their body, pay taxes, and overall play a key role in the fabric of a vibrant society. But get involved with climate politics? No way.

Join Dr Hannah Feldman (School of Cybernetics, Institute for Water Futures) for a presentation on her latest book chapter in the Routledge Handbook on Young People's Environmental Action (eds. Bowman & Akman, in press) to explore the Menindee fish kill disaster of 2019, and what it can tell us about young people's involvement in water and environmental public discourse.

Hannah will give an overview of the case, introduce some key protagonists of the story, and discuss how young people (both First Nations and non) can be better supported by all of us in our research and media on climate disasters into an uncertain future.

Society and Climate Change Seminar Series

These seminars are part of a series of talks about society and climate change designed for researchers, students and policy makers. The series provides an opportunity to connect with researchers studying similar topics and present your research in a supportive multidisciplinary environment. PhD and Master students welcome. Held at ANU every six weeks, from 4pm to 5.00 pm, with nibbles and drinks afterwards.
