With an interdisciplinary background, Uday applies a systems-based approaches to improve primary productivity and natural resource management.

His expertise lies in integrating climate science—including weather, seasonal, and long-term climate change analysis—with food systems.

This integration supports decision-making from farm scale to value chains to policy. His methodology encompasses spatial modelling, climate data analysis, whole-farm bioeconomic modelling, value chain analysis, and participatory tools.

Uday holds a Master’s degree from Cambridge University, UK and a PhD from Wageningen University, the Netherlands followed by a Marie Curie post-doctoral position at CIRAD, France.

With over 100 publications, he focuses on bridging empirical science and participatory methods, a critical field for transforming research into practical impact.

He is the Lead Author for the IPCC Assessment reports 6 and currently 7.
