Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2022
The ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS) will be hosting a booth at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, held in Brisbane in September. The conference brings together delegates from across the Asia Pacific to showcase and share experiences, action and innovation to help build a resilient future for the region.
Researchers at The Australian National University (ANU) are driving world-leading and transformative solutions to disasters. This includes bushfire prevention using satellite and drone technology; using green space and water to improve the resilience and quality of life in dense cities; and nature-based solutions for flood resilience.
The ANU Institue for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS) facilitates collaborative, cross-displinary research with ANU experts working in these fields, connecting our research with communities, industry and decision-makers to build local and national reslience to disasters.
Ignite Stage presentation: A transformative approach to protect Australia from catastrophic bushfires – A giant leap
In this thought provoking presentation, ICEDS Head of Disaster Solutions, Dr Roslyn Prinsley will lead the audience through a journey that challenges current thinking and practice in disaster risk reduction. Dr Prinsley will demonstrate how it is possible to overcome incremental thinking and develop transformative approaches to rapid fire suppression and disaster risk reduction.
