Climate Resilient Food Systems in the Pacific

In recent years, global food systems have experienced significant disruption, placing increasing pressure on communities across the Asia-Pacific. Climate variability, increasing pests and diseases, and global shocks reshaped how food was produced, accessed, and sustained—highlighting vulnerabilities across the region. 

 

In response, ICEDS worked with partners in Australia and the Pacific to strengthen resilience and adapt to these evolving challenges. Its initiatives spanned innovative desalination technologies, carbon opportunities, seasonal farm advisory services, and decision-support tools for policymakers. Collaboration with local partners has been key to the success of our various projects. 

 

The program demonstrated that effective adaptation needed to occur at multiple levels—from local communities to national systems—and be grounded in cultural context. By tailoring solutions to the unique needs, knowledge, and priorities of stakeholders, ICEDS supported more sustainable and inclusive food futures across the Pacific.
