Clare leads the University’s environmental sustainability team, driving initiatives to reduce the University’s environmental footprint across climate action, nature conservation and the circular economy. She brings a particular interest in effective climate communication—how to inspire urgent, transformative action at institutional, community and individual levels. Clare has more than a decade of sustainability experience at ANU and in the renewable energy sector, alongside earlier leadership roles in general management and communications across the UK, Asia and Australia. She previously managed operations at the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions. She is Chair of the Group of Eight Universities Sustainability Forum and a board member of the Conservation Council ACT. Clare is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, holds a Master of Environmental Management from UNSW, and a History degree from the University of Cambridge.
