Contacts
Dr Nathan Steggel is Adjunct Fellow of the Energy Change Institute at the Australian National University. Nathan is also a co-founder of the global renewable energy company, Windlab.
Before Windlab, Nathan completed a post-doctoral fellowship in atmospheric boundary layer flows at the EnFlo laboratory (University of Surrey, UK) before joining the CSIRO’s Wind Energy Research Unit. There he led the development of a new wind prospecting technology, ‘WindScape’. WindScape has been successfully applied to the identification of many operating wind projects and this success led to the formation of Windlab in 2003.
Nathan has led site development, turbine procurement and technical, legal and financial due-diligence activities for many successful Windlab projects. He is currently General Manager of Development at Windlab and in this role leads a team championing Australia’s energy transition through development of a multi-gigawatt renewables portfolio.
Awards that recognise Nathan’s achievements include a 2002 NSW Energy Smart Green Globe Award for New Technology; a 2003 CSIRO Service from Science Award; and in 2010, together with co-founder Dr Keith Ayotte, Ernst & Young CleanTech Entrepreneurs of the Year in Australia’s Eastern Region.
